The 74th AGM was held at the Green Lawns Hotel on June 4 and was opened by past president Mary Gilbert.

Honorary secretary, Valerie Reilly read the minutes of the 73rd AGM, which were approved and signed, after which she gave her own report. She said that it had been a delight to work with president Eileen Newman during her year in office.

Eileen’s chosen charities were Cancer Research, Hearing Dogs for the Deaf and Age Concern. Valerie also thanked the management of the Green Lawns Hotel for looking after members so well and providing the venue for the successful coffee morning free of charge. She ended her report by thanking all members for their support during the year.

There was no treasurer’s report, as honorary treasurer Pam Price was unable to attend. Overseas organiser, Rosemary Ball, said that charitable events she had organised had been well attended and that many children in Africa and Nepal had benefited. She also thanked members for helping to fill Christmas boxes for needy children.

Club correspondent, Winifred Bennett, thanked the Falmouth Packet for printing reports each week and for publicity in various events. She also gave a summary of the activities and speakers, which the club had enjoyed during the year.

President Eileen was not able to attend the meeting but honorary secretary Valerie thanked her for doing an excellent job in organising club activities, the speakers and the Christmas party.
