A Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service stalwart from Penryn has been awarded a MBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List.
Avril Everett from has been a member of Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service staff since 2001. In addition to her role in the service, she has worked tirelessly as a volunteer to raise funds for The Fire Fighters Charity.
Avril serves on local committees to help organise and promote fundraising events such as the hugely popular Ladies Driving Challenge.
Avril said: “I feel very honoured to be awarded this level of recognition and extremely proud that this was achieved through being part of the Cornwall Fire and Rescue team.”
Deputy chief fire officer Paul Walker said” We are all very proud of Avril who works tirelessly to support both the beneficiary and welfare side of the Charity as well as fund raising to support the services provided by the Fire Fighters Charity.”
