BALWEST: The postponed service to celebrate the 181st chapel anniversary in the present building was held on Sunday. The Rev Beverly Turner from Helston conducted a very interesting service on “The past, the present and the future.” The offertory, for property funds, was taken by Oliver and Joel Boston. Accompanist was Christine Cumber. Many visitors, some on holiday and some from other chapels in the area joined in the service.

An enjoyable lunch prepared by church members followed the service in the Sunday schoolroom. The Rev Beverly thanked everyone who had helped to make the occasion one to remember.

ASHTON CHURCH: Evensong on Sunday was led by the parish priest, the Rev Penny Prince. Malcolm Hersee and Bevan Osborne read the lessons. Margaret Goldsworthy was organist and Malcolm Hersee the sidesman.

On Thursday, June 24, to celebrate the Feast of St John the Baptist, there will be a Book of Common Prayer service of holy communion at 9.30am.
