While surfing is the extreme sport of choice in Cornwall a Praa Sands couple are hoping to make the county a new hub for ski instructors with the launch of their new business.
Steve and Karen La Borde have launched have secured an international deal with one of the biggest ski resorts in Canada to set up the new company. They are hoping to attract the thousands of summer workers into taking up winter sports during the colder closed season months - leading to the chance to find work all year round.
Ski instructor and businessman, Steve, 52, said: “Cornwall is a beautiful place to work in the summer, but in the winter a lot of work opportunities dry up - especially for the locals.
“Our idea is to give the local seasonal workers who struggle during the quieter months a winter option.”
