Cambrone Redruth and District Lions Club have donated £1,000 to help towards a brand new tricycle for a disabled Redruth schoolboy.

Ashley Lewis, aged eight, a pupil at Curnow School, has cerebral palsy that affects his right side and is unable to walk so he spends most of his time in a wheel chair. He also has fluid on the brain, is epileptic, has no sight in his left eye and blurred vision in the right eye.

The new trike helps Ashley improve his posture, allow him to exercise his legs and support good movement patterns, build muscle strength, flexibility and overall fitness.

Following from a jumble sale held by his family as well as sponsored parachute jump completed by his mum Kerry, the club’s donation helped pay for the new trike which allows him to integrate with other youngsters.
