Owner of Bell’s Court Snooker Club, Paul Williams is just one game away from playing multiple World Championship finalist Jimmy White.

Williams is one of three players from the snooker club who are travelling to Gloucester, this weekend, to play in a South West Snooker Academy tournament, which will feature other famous snooker names including Stephen Maguire, Ryan Day, Joe Perry and Tony Drago. Williams has received the ‘luck’ of the draw as he faces what he described as a ‘winnable’ game against Liverpool professional John Whitty for the chance to play Jimmy White in the next round.

White, knicknamed the Whirlwind, is one of the most popular players in snooker history having reached six world championship finals only to lose in them all.

The other players travelling to the tournament from Bell’s Court include talented youngster Bobby Southworth and professional Andy Hicks.

Southworth faces a tough task as he faces world number 50 Matthew Selts in his opening match. The 25 year-old reached the last 32 of the Shanghai Masters and is a friend and practice partner of Ronnie O’Sullivan.

Andy Hicks will face one of the leading lady snooker players Katie Henrick in his opening match.

The players were sponsored by Balti Curries. To see how the three players get on in this weekend’s tournament pick up a copy of next week’s Packet.
