Truro got their first Jolly’s Drinks ECB Cornwall premier league win of the campaign with a 76 run success over bottom club Penzance at Boscawen Park. After the early loss of Chris Martin, Tim Marrion (53) and Tom Sharp (78) added 100 for the second wicket.

The visitors fought back before Kyle Van Rooyen (28) and Nick Carter (27no) added an unbroken 41 for the eighth wicket. Tony Riggall took three for 59.

Penzance slipped to 39 for five before Keiran Lennon (61), Riggall (28) and Charlie Goldsworthy (23) staged a recovery to 163 all out, Van Rooyen and Sharp both took three wickets.

St Austell are the visitors to Boscawen Park on Saturday on the back of two home defeats over the weekend to Paul and Callington in the National Club Championship.

Truro had an easy passage through to the semi-finals of the Vinter Cup when they beat Rosudgeon by ten wickets with nine overs to spare.

Chris Roberts earlier made 34 but it was his father, who shared an unbroken ninth wicket stand of 21 with Robert Thomas, that saw the ‘Road’ salvage nine points from the game to remain above the bottom three.

Callington were 115 for two in their innings after Lewis Sanders took two early wickets. Chris Roberts wrapped up the tail taking three for 52. The ‘Road’ entertain the champions St Just on Saturday.

Hawkey Cup Despite beating Roche by seven wickets in their final group game in the Clive Rosevear Insurance Hawkey Cup Grampound Road have missed out on finals day qualification.

In a three way tie in Group C. Newquay won the group on net run rate with Roche second and Grampound Road third.
