As daffodil pickers are finally able to swing into in action as freezing conditions ease, in Mawgan preparations are well ahead for the village’s third Daffodil Festival.

It is being held once again at the 12th century listed church of St Mawgan in Meneage, on the weekend of February 19 and 20. The church will be open from 10.30am until 4.30pm both days and is free to enter.

Light refreshments will be available including pasties and home made soup at lunchtime and tea and cakes all day.

Wendy Bailey, from the church, said: “We are lucky to be surrounded by flowers in west Cornwall and want to celebrate the delightful and varied daffodil and its industry by decking the beautiful church of St Mawgan in Meneage with daffodils of every variety available.

“There will be the opportunity to not only enjoy the sight and smell of daffodils and learn more about the flower and the industry around us, but also to view displays of equipment used over 50 years ago. There will be music from local organists and singers and this year we are expanding the displays of paintings and including photographs and embroidery with a daffodil theme.”
