A Falmouth photographer injured in a grenade attack while covering the Libyan uprising is said to be 'doing fine' in Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro

Guy Martin suffered serious stomach and leg injuries while covering the conflict for a photo agency.

The 28 year old had to have emergency surgery in the Libyan city of Misrata before being flown to Malta.

He was then transferred to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro which said he was "doing fine".

Mr Martin was in Misrata when it came under siege by forces loyal to Libya's dictator Col Muammar Gaddafi.

He had been covering uprisings, dubbed the "Arab Spring", in the weeks previously.

Mr Martin, who grew up in the Falmouth area, graduated from the University of Wales in 2006, and has worked in countruies including Iran, Egypt and Sudan.

His work has been published in both national and international newspapers.

Liverpool-born journalist and documentary filmmaker Tim Hetherington, 40, and American journalist Chris Hondros, 41, were killed in the blast.
