Whitbread has announced the name of its brand new Table Table restaurant in Camborne.

Trevithick Inn was chosen after a competition ran in the Camborne and Redruth Packet.

Mrs Lee Misselbrook, of Falmouth, chose the name Trevithick Inn in honour of Camborne’s extensive industrial history.

Mrs Misselbrook will receive £300 worth of vouchers to spend across the UK in any Whitbread restaurant and will also receive the reward of seeing her chosen name for the Table Table restaurant up in lights.

Mrs Misselbrook suggested Trevithick Inn after steam locomotive inventor and engineer, Richard Trevithick, who was born in the area. The judges chose the name as it holds strong historical reference to the area in which the restaurant is situated.

In 1801 Trevithick’s steam road locomotive, the Puffing Devil, made a successful trip up Camborne Hill with several passengers on board. The journey was documented as the first demonstration of steam-powered transportation.

Mrs Misselbrook said: “It’s a real honour to have named the Trevithick Inn Table Table restaurant in Camborne. I know I will get a burst of excitement every time I drive past.”

The Trevithick Inn, on Treswithian Road, is scheduled to open in January. Table Table serves a variety of pub food including hand battered fish and chips and chicken Fajitas.
