youngsters enjoyed scribbling on the floor of a Helston classroom with the encouragement of their teacher.

However, Helston Community College art teacher Sarah Jane Marsden had not taken leave of her senses, but was instead taking part in a Big Draw event, encouraging youngsters to look at art in a different way.

Ms Marsden said: "I'm very pleased. It's the kind of artwork you can't normally do in art classes."

As part of the event, the youngster were also given unusual art equipment to scribble and draw with, including pens attached to bottles, sticks, a clock and even a Barbie doll.

"It's getting them to look at drawing in a different way," added Ms Marsden.

As well as pupils from the college, primary school children also came to take part, including youngsters from Germoe, as well as some residents of Helston.

Everyone who took part in creating "the bigger picture" was presented with a certificate.
