Cornwall’s architects gathered this week at the Eden Project’s Green Build Hub to elect Cian Spowart, director of PBWC Architects, as their chairman for the next two years.

Cian first joined St Ives practice PBWC in 2002 whilst studying at Cardiff University. He has been the project architect for a number of lifeboat stations and college buildings, taking a sabbatical in 2011 to study construction methods in the Far East. He became a director of PBWC in 2014.

Outgoing Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) chair Jane Hamlyn said: “We are delighted at Cian’s appointment. It is fitting that the handover is taking place at Eden’s Green Build Hub, one of Cian’s own projects.”

As well as chairmanship of the Cornwall branch of RIBA, Cian also takes over as chair of the Cornwall Architectural Trust.
