The Penryn branch of Macsalvors celebrated ten years of serving the local marine community recently.

Macsalvors has been operating from its seven acre site at Pool for over 50 years and is still a family business. In 2007 the Penryn branch opened, specialising in chandlery, but also carrying a diverse range of other products including camping equipment, workwear, tarpaulins and more.

Over the last ten years the chandlery has become an established part of the community, working with the emergency services to promote an annual sea safety event that has become an important date in many peoples diaries.

Winner of the Penryn Business of the Year award for three consecutive years the chandlery continues Macsalvors’ reputation for fair prices and outstanding customer service.

As a 'thank you' to its customers for their support and friendship over the last ten years, Macsalvors in Penryn offered 10 per cent off everything in the store during their birthday celebrations.

There was also a free prize draw featuring over 20 prizes, including a stand up paddleboard won by Will Thompson, £100 of Macsalvors' vouchers and many more.

There was a pirate theme for the day which encouraged appearances by several 'Jack Sparrows'.

Sally Bazeley, manager of the Penryn branch, said: “We had a great day, it was a lot of fun, and we are lucky to have a really good crowd of regular customers, many of whom have become our friends. We’re looking forward to the next ten years.”
