Mas Shibasaki is the proud owner of a mobile hair studio which can regularly be seen zipping through the streets of Falmouth and Truro and parking up at different locations where he then stays for the day.

Mas, a professional hairstylist with over 20 years salon experience, offers a unique fusion of Japanese precision cuts. His studio is a converted van which offers a light and airy modern space, is generator run and retrofitted with electrical outlets, hot water, immobile furniture and a coffee machine.

Tokyo trained, Mas moved to London in 2003 and absorbed the talent for six years, training in Vidal Sassoon haircutting techniques and from a top stylist in both hair cutting and fashion styling. His heart was stolen by a Cornish girl (now his wife and mother of his children) and in 2009 he and his scissors moved to Cornwall, where he rented chairs in leading Truro and Falmouth Salons.

Disheartened by property, Mas met the designer Hooperberg Creative Collective, who planted the seed of a mobile salon and the rest is history.

"My dream has always been to run my own salon, styling hair with a sea view, but with high rents and lack of commercial space, I struggled to find the right space," said Mas. "I am passionate about my work and proud of my very cool salon, it is the perfect place experience to create awesome hair styles with the sea as my back drop. You could say, that ‘I’m living the dream.’”
