Helston now boasts a brand new state of the art, independent opticians.

Matthews Opticians and Hearing Care has opened its doors on Coinagehall Street, bringing independent optics back to the community and providing them with quality eyecare, eyewear and hearing care.

The launch of Matthews Opticians and Hearing Care marks a significant shift, as it is an unprecedented move of a practice regaining its independence from a nationwide chain. The practice had previously traded under the name of one of the UK’s largest optical chains, Vision Express for the last ten years.

The current team will all remain at the practice including their resident optometrist and store director Adam Matthews who said: "We look forward to bringing a more customer focused, personalised experience to the community of Helston."

Matthews Opticians and Hearing Care will be taking over the patient list of Vision Express. The practice has invested thousands in optical technology as well securing a wide range of frames from some of the world’s best fashion brands including Ray Ban, Jimmy Choo, Tom Ford, Hugo Boss and many more. They will also carry a large stock of children’s frames.

To mark the launch, the practice will be holding an in-store event on Wednesday, March 28, inviting the public to enjoy bubbly, cake and exclusive one off discounts as well as raffle prizes.

The event will be attended by the mayor of Helston, Gillian Geer. There will also be a ribbon cutting ceremony performed by local GP, Dr John Lansdowne.
