A LAW firm is planning to help out a charity with a Make a Will Week to raise funds for its work in the community.

Hine Downing Solicitors has teamed up with Falmouth Age Concern, which provides social events and friendship for lonely older people in and around Falmouth and Penryn, to offer a will-making service in which the normal fee is waived and a contribution made to the charity instead.

Falmouth Age Concern runs a successful and much-needed Befriending Service as well as clubs, classes and excursions.

It particularly tries to help the most isolated and lonely older people in the community. It is an independent local charity, providing a lifeline for the elderly and housebound, and sending volunteer visitors to those who feel cut-off from the outside world.

The Make a Will Week will be led by Will Richards from Hine Downing, who will be offering this free service in return for donations in favour of Falmouth Age Concern. Will, who heads the firm’s specialist Elder Client team, said that Hine Downing was delighted to support the charity.

He added: “Falmouth Age Concern provides a much-needed service to the elderly in the local area and as the town’s local solicitors, we want to do all that we can to promote their work. We have seen the positive effect that their volunteers can have, and how worthwhile their efforts are.”

Peter Maxted, the manager of Falmouth Age Concern, said: “The service we provide is simple but effective. We have helped over 800 people during the past 15 years, and we have expanded to provide additional clubs, courses and trips for the elderly as well as befriending, and have recently launched a successful Outreach project to enable people in more isolated locations to access our services.

"We are not part of any large national organisation and have to raise all our own funds – so we need continued support from donors and volunteers. This very generous offer from Hine Downing will help us greatly.”

The Make a Will Week will be run by Hine Downing Solicitors during the week beginning November 11.

Anyone who wishes to make, amend or review their will and give a donation to Falmouth Age Concern, should contact Hine Downing on 01326 316655.
