Three new shows at the historic Penwith Gallery in St Ives will bring together two of Cornwall’s most influential arts societies under one roof, as well as marking a new departure for the leading painter Naomi Frears.
The display in the main gallery will be paintings, sculpture and ceramics by many of the eminent Cornish artists who make up the membership of the Penwith Society of Arts. They include John Emanuel, Anthony Frost, Jason Lilley, Daphne McClure, Rod Walker and many more.
Meanwhile the Penwith’s Studio Gallery will host a show selected by the renowned St Ives artist Naomi Frears. Strepitus, Crepitus, Fragor (Latin for Snap, Crackle, Pop) brings together photographs and etchings by Simon Jaques, works on linen by Lauren Keeley, paintings and drawings by Ben Sanderson and ceramics by Soraya Smithson.
Completing the trio of shows at the Penwith Gallery is NSA 293, the latest in an ongoing series of exhibitions by the Newlyn Society of Artists.
The work on display in the Penwith's New Gallery will feature new works from a full range of media including painting, printmaking, sculpture, photography and video art.
Admission is free.
