Tributes have been paid to a former Falmouth School pupil who has died following a tragic accident in Plymouth.

This week family and friends of 23-year-old Will Styles were coming to terms with his death following an accident at 8am on Monday morning.

Mr Styles, who formerly lived on The Beacon, was found unconscious after he fell from a window close to a block of flats in Plymouth where he was living. His parents live in Trevethan Road.

He was taken to Derriford Hospital and put in intensive care but after fighting for his life for the best part of 24 hours, he died in Plymouth yesterday morning.

A city police spokeswoman said: “We were called to an address in Greenbank, Plymouth, on November 23 at around 8am after reports a man had been found unconscious next to a block of flats.

“The man, a 23-year-old, was in a critical condition in hospital.”

A spokeswoman from Derriford hospital told the Packet yesterday, Tuesday: “William Joseph Styles passed away peace-fully at 10.30am this morning.”

Tributes to Will were soon flooding into the social networking site Facebook, particularly the one of his girlfriend, Jessie Wallace.

Jessie is from Falmouth but studies at University College St Mark and St John and it is understood the couple moved to Plymouth to be near the college.

Her page was full of tributes and messages after friends heard of the accident.

One friend, Helena Calfe wrote: “I am lost for words Jess, all my thoughts are with you and Will’s family. Lots of love and hugs.”

Another message, from Kylie Millar, said: “I know enough people have said it already, and you probably aren't going to be taking this in, but I just wanted to say how sorry I am for what has happened and I hope you are OK. Thinking of you xxx.”

An inquest into the death of Mr Styles was expected to be opened and adjourned this week.
