A Helston-based business has just recorded its highest financial results after 10 years of trading in Cornwall.

Now Kitchens has sustained significant growth over the past two years. Despite the industry sector as a whole seeing a dip in sales, the company bucked the trend and increased its overall turnover in 2018 by 37 per cent, then by a further 28 per cent by the end of 2019.

Company director Darren Hitchman said: “Business has been unpredictable since the Brexit vote – Economic uncertainty following the EU referendum caused the number of residential property transactions to fall in 2017-18, which naturally hampered demand for kitchen furniture in the following couple of years.

"Interestingly though, we’ve noticed an increased interest in more complex home improvement projects such as extensions or self-builds, but of course these take more time to come to fruition.”

During this unpredictable period, Now Kitchens made a major change to their business strategy, choosing discontinue the bathroom side of the business to focus on kitchens.

Darren added: “Our objective was to become experts in all aspects of kitchen design, installation and project management, supported by a hand-picked group of suppliers, ensuring that every feature of every kitchen project would be completed to the same high standards that we always expect.

“I also developed an in-house team that I feel really listens to customers, and understands how over-whelming the kitchen decision-making process can be. As one of the most complex interiors in our homes, Kitchen projects are often stressful, and we want them to be exciting. We are not about hard-sell or commission – the team here work exceptionally hard on customer service, not just at the design stage but until after the installation is complete. This is reflected in the reviews we receive from our customers which are all 5*.”

Now Kitchens, based on Water Ma Trout Industrial Estate, spent several months during 2019 redeveloping its upstairs showroom to be a stunning showcase for British-made masterclass kitchens.

The space houses a large range of modern and traditional door colours and textures, exceptional storage options, state-of-the-art appliances, beautiful lighting schemes and design choices, making it one of the largest and most up-to-date kitchen showrooms in Cornwall.
