AN innovative new gin created in Cornwall has been launched.

Chameleon Gin comes with “infusion pockets” allowing the drinker to add an extra infusion of orange flavour, changing the taste and colour of the gin for the ultimate personalisation.

The concept is simple – the gin is poured and then the drinker adds their own infusion pocket, which is crammed with orange botanicals, and leave it in the drink for however long they like.

One minute gives "a zesty fresh citrus taste", five minutes leaves "a zingy orange taste" and 10 minutes makes for "a sensory trip to the orange orchards of Seville," according to the makers.

Chameleon Gin, made at Colwith Distillery in Lanlivery, is the brainchild of Georgina Moss, who came up with the idea eight years ago while travelling in Adelaide, Australia.

She said: “I learnt the art of drinking gin without the need for tonic whilst I was travelling.

"One of my key takeaways from the experience was that if the gin had a strong flavour that was supplemented by an infusion, it worked well as a short.

"Whilst I love a long G&T on a summer's evening, I also love the idea of having an option of a drink that tastes refreshing with just ice and an infusion pocket which is perfect for those who don’t like the taste of tonic.

"Chameleon Gin gives the customer an option of both, it can be infused and drunk straight but also taste brilliant with a lightly flavoured tonic."
