Coastline Housing has recently achieved the Investing in Volunteers Quality Standard, recognising the work the charity does with its volunteers.

Coastline Housing, which is based in Redruth, was assessed against a range of best practice standards and proved to excel in all aspects of working with its volunteers.

These standards ensure volunteers develop essential skills while increasing the range of services provided to customers and clients at the Homeless Service in Pool, Miners Court Extra Care in Redruth, and at Coastline’s main office.

Investing in Volunteers (IiV) is the UK quality standard for excellence in volunteer management.

IiV aims to improve the quality of the volunteering experience for all volunteers and for organisations to acknowledge the enormous contribution made by volunteers.

Coastline Housing is an independent, charitable housing association owning and managing almost 5,000 homes in Cornwall.

Thousands of families have registered for affordable rented housing in the county and many more are known to be in need.

Tamsyn Pegler, volunteer manager for Coastline, said: "We are extremely proud to have renewed our Investing in Volunteers accreditation for a second time.

"It demonstrates our continued commitment to the involvement of volunteers within the organisation and provides standards which we can benchmark ourselves against ensuring volunteers are valued and supported throughout their time with us.

"This has been essential during the coronavirus pandemic which has seen our volunteers go above and beyond in adapting their roles to meet the needs of our customers.

"We look forward to the time when we can physically come together to celebrate this fantastic achievement."

Louise Beard, Coastline Housing’s deputy chief executive, adds: "This is an incredible achievement for Coastline to retain this prestigious award.

"The difference our volunteers make to the lives of so many of our customers in different ways is truly incredible and the award confirms the importance for the future of Coastline’s Volunteer programme."

Coastline Housing have secured over £30m of grant funding from Homes England and over £5 million from Cornwall Council to develop more than 1,000 new homes in Cornwall during the period from 2015 to 2021.

A new joint venture agreement with Legal & General Affordable Homes will also enable the housing association to provide a further 300 homes each year for local people, which they hope will generate significant investment into the Cornish economy.
