It may feel a long way off but Christmas lights will be shining brightly again in Mullion this winter thanks to help from one of the village pubs.

Customers at the Mounts Bay Inn raised £1,000 between last October and January this year, at the pub’s Tuesday quiz night sessions.

The money has now been handed over to the lights committee by landlords Cheryl and Peter Tonkin.

The couple said they were “proud” to support the village lights, adding: “Huge thanks to all our great teams for their support and enthusiasm in helping us raise this money.

“Well done to all the Christmas lights team who work so hard to make our village look so beautiful every Christmas.”

Ian Harvey, from the lights committee, thanked everyone involved via Facebook, saying: “The total cost of the lights is about £3,000, so the £1,000 from Cheryl, Pete and the Mounts Bay quiz teams is very appreciated.

“In 2017 we also had significant donations from the Cornwall Council Community Fund, the Goonhilly Wind Farm Community Fund and Mullion Parish Council. The businesses and people of Mullion are also very generous. Thank you all very much.”
