Two years ago a devastating paragliding accident left a Praa Sands woman facing a one-in-a-million chance of ever walking again.

Yet determined 34-year-old Wanda Summers has defied all the odds and amazed doctors by not only teaching herself to walk again but by re-igniting her passion for marathon running.

Now, just a year after she was due to take part in the Gobi Desert March in aid of Helston aid charity ShelterBox, Wanda will fulfil her ambition to take part in the very same run.

The challenge is a seven-day race on foot across the Gobi Desert, one of world’s largest deserts that is the hottest place in China and the furthest place from the sea in the world.
