A former Coronation Street star is set to appear on BBC's Casualty just months after his exit from the ITV soap.

Bill Fellows played Stu Carpenter on Corrie for three years before departing the show in October last year, with his character leaving the cobbles for Germany.

Now, just months after his Coronation Street exit, Fellows has revealed he will be crossing over to rival soap Casualty on the BBC.

Former Coronation Street star to appear on Casualty

Fellows has already begun filming his scenes for Casualty and took to Instagram recently, sharing several pictures of himself in character.

It is yet to be revealed who the former Corrie star will play on the show, but one picture showed him with a NHS lanyard around his neck.

The other, captioned "Casualty Make up", showed the 67-year-old with makeup on replicating lacerations and cuts on his arm.

Fans took to the comments to share their excitement about Fellows returning to TV.

One person wrote: "OMG. Shocking makeup. Look forward to seeing you in the Casualty episode."

While others simply joked about his makeup and the fake cuts on his arm.

One fan commented: "Need a plaster Bill?"

Another added: "That'll learn ya' to mess with that smoothie blender."

While a third person said: "God, I thought that was real for a moment!"

Bill Fellows says he has "no regrets" after Coronation Street exit

Fellows previously revealed he had "no regrets" when it came to his Coronation Street departure.

Speaking in The Mirror, he said: "It is the right time to go for me and for Stu. I will look back with fond memories and I wouldn't rule out coming back in the future.

"But Stu has evolved, we started off with a homeless guy who was wrongly accused of murder and and then we get to the point three years later where this guy's got almost a quarter of a million pounds and has cleared his name and made it a life for himself."

Fellows added: "When I first started it was a six month contract but with options that took me over three years.

"At the time it was something that did panic me a little as I have my house down south and it seemed like a long time, I am used to playing lots of different characters and three years seemed a long time to play the same character.

"But I needn’t have worried, what I realised when I got the chance to play someone for a long time it was heaven really, I wasn't tied into anything and the three years have flown and this felt like the right time to go, I always knew I would go at the end of the three years."

Fellows also said we may not have seen the last of Stu on Coronation Street, with the producers sending the character off to Germany, rather than killing him off, as they wanted to "leave the door open" for a possible return.
