Camborne RFC have landed a major commercial boost ahead of their debut season in the third tier of English rugby, securing global packaging giant Smurfit Westrock as a new front-of-shirt sponsor.
The deal comes at a landmark moment for "Town", who capped off a sensational campaign last season by winning National 2 West.
Their promotion puts the Cornish side into National League 1, officially ranking them among the top 40 rugby clubs in the country.
Camborne RFC chairman Martin Symons is delighted to have Smurfit Westrock's backing.
He said: "I always say this is the greatest club in the world.
"We’ve got a 149-year history, but we’re at the single most important juncture right now as we enter National 1.
"As we travel across the country to face historic teams, carrying the Smurfit Westrock logo on our shirts creates a fantastic, mutually beneficial relationship."
Promotion sets up a historic slate of fixtures for the 2026/27 campaign, with Camborne taking on iconic sides including Rosslyn Park, London Scottish, and Leeds Tykes.
For Smurfit Westrock, the partnership is a natural extension of its deep economic roots in the Westcountry.
The packaging leader has a significant presence across the region, including two dedicated manufacturing facilities in Barnstaple alongside major production sites extending up the M5 corridor into Somerset and Bristol.
Adrian Bird, UK Market Development Director at Smurfit Westrock, said: "We’re thrilled to be supporting Camborne Rugby Club following their well-earned promotion.
"We work alongside a huge array of businesses right across the region, from Cornish agricultural suppliers to regional brands exporting to the world.
"Investing back into the South West community and backing Camborne as they step onto the national stage made total sense for us."
The club’s hierarchy believes the partnership delivers vital commercial backing as they prepare for the tougher, nationwide demands of National 1.
Richard Jewell, community and sponsorship lead at Camborne RFC, said: "Smurfit Westrock is a massive, trusted name with a rich history, much like our own club.
"We’re absolutely delighted to have them on board as a partner for what’s going to be an unforgettable season."
Camborne kick off their National League 1 campaign next month with a long trip to Leeds Tykes on Saturday, 5 September, followed by a mouthwatering home game with local rivals Plymouth Albion the following weekend.
