The George Benney Memorial Cup attracted a very good entry at Budock Vean Golf Club on a perfect day for golf with the greens again presented in excellent condition.

This was reflected in the scoring, with putts dropping in from everywhere.
Keith Whitbread carded a fabulous net 57 to win the coveted "claret jug."

Keith was off to a flying start and reached the turn in just 35 strokes including a birdie at the third.
His plan to play safe at the 572 yard par five 16th went slightly awry as he took a double bogey 7, but he held his nerve to finish with two pars.

Seniors Captain Tony Grace also enjoyed a sparkling round which began,  remarkably, with seven straight pars.  If not for a bogey four at the last he would have won. Alas his brilliant net 58 saw him forced to settle for the runners up spot.

Third was evergreen Ronnie Andrew with another terrific score of net 62,  which would have been good enough normally to have won.

The  rollover back nine twos jackpot attracted a lot of interest with almost £90 in the pot.
The winners were the Mason brothers Dylan and Chris at the 11th and 18th holes respectively, also John Rule at the 11th.

The Whiteside Rose Bowl table (best four aggregate medal rounds) shows  Keith Whitbread leading on 252; David Allen is sharing second place with David Penrose with both on aggregates of 261.

This Sunday is the Monthly Medal sponsored by JP Autos.

On Wednesday the Ladies played for the Barbara Bryan Trophy, a nine hole competition.

The winner was Barbara Craig with 19 points. Runner up was Mae Brown with 17 points.
The younger members played a "super stableford" which Nina Hann won, with Ladies Captain Lesley Upperton taking second place.
