The first round of the Winter League took place on Sunday at Budock Vean, and the weather appropriately turned drizzly with very poor light which, apart from the temperature, made it feel more like late November.

This was no problem for the winner, Dylan Mason,  who lit up the course with an incredibly good score of 45 Stableford points, only dropping four shots in the round.

Second place went to David Tippett, who also played well to record a score of 41 points. Third was Chris Mason with 39 points, just edging out Charlie Averiss on countback.

Unusually there were no twos recorded on the back nine, which means that the twos jackpot rolls over to next week’s competition: the October Monthly Medal

On Wednesday the Ladies played for the Cancer Spoon Stableford. An excellent run of four straight pars at the first four holes combined with a solid finish was enough to give Mae Brown victory with an excellent 41 Stableford points. Second place went to Sue Parsons with  another very good score of 39 points Third was Nina Hann with 36 points.
