In perfect conditions for cricket, Porthleven got the better of their visitors in a tense bottom of the table clash with St Just – winning by 68 runs on Saturday.
Winning the toss, Porthleven batted first and amassed a total of 226-4. Skipper Chris Higgs led the way with an unbeaten 74, alongside Nick Rowe’s 70 in a vital second wicket stand worth 135.
In reply, St Just were unable to keep with the required run rate as they were bowled out for 158.
The victory for Porthleven means they move off the foot of the Division Four West table.
