PENRYN Athletic proved to be a tough challenge for Truro City in a pre-season friendly played at Kernick Road on Tuesday night.
First half goals from Ben Watson were enough to guarantee the Calor League side went back to Treyew Road with a victory.
Kevin Lawrence scored for the hosts, but the South West Peninsula Division One West team could not find another goal to level proceedings up.
Several players from Exeter City’s youth ranks featured in the starting line-up for City and it took them just three minutes to open the scoring when Watson hit a shot past Borough’s goalkeeper Chris Symons.
An equaliser was scored 20 minutes later when Lawrence made the most of a mix up at the back to score in front of an open goal after Ed Wilton crossed the ball into the box.
However, the White Tigers replied just minutes later when Isaac Vassell played in Watson, who finished with aplomb.
Next Tuesday evening, Athletic welcome St Ives Town to Kernick Road for their next pre-season match.
