AN OPEN day was held at Falmouth Cricket Club to give people the chance to play the sport.
The club based in Trescobeas Road hosted the event through the ECB Waitrose Into Cricket scheme and saw dozens of players turn up.
In the morning an under 11s match was played between Falmouth and Troon on the ground’s main square, followed by a lunch for the teams to enjoy along with club sponsors.
Then in the afternoon, a 6-a-side tournament was played with six teams involved, each featuring Falmouth members with novice cricketers.
Live music was played during the competition along with commentary being provided over a tannoy by Andrew Varker and Harry Roberts.
In the final, The Gardeners defeated Seaview with Falmouth first team player George Popperwell, who was named man of the tournament, hitting a reverse sweep for six to win the match.
