YOUNG gig rowers from Coverack performed well at the Under 16s Newquay Championships as they came second overall.
The A crew from the St Keverne-based team progressed through to the final onboard their boat Lark and ended up finishing six seconds behind winners Caradon, clocking a time of 14:14.
They were not the only representatives for the Lizard Peninsula to make it into the final as Cadgwith came fifth in the last race with a time of 17:52.
Semi final places were also grabbed by Helford’s A crew along with Coverack’s B team.
A total of 18 crews from around Cornwall had ventured down to the waters of Newquay to participate in the competition.
