FALMOUTH Golf Club’s Alan Goldsmith and John Trevithick did the club proud last Sunday by winning the prestigious Lord Lieutenants Trophy at Carlyon Bay.

There was a record entry of 50 pairs from 17 different clubs contesting the charity better-ball in aid of St John Ambulance (Cornwall).

Goldsmith and Trevithick combined superbly and included gross birdies on two of the par five holes allied to six net birdies and crucially a par three at the testing final hole.

This was just enough to see them win on countback from home pairing Dave Saget and Mark Rowe, with both pairings carding impressive totals of 43 stableford points. Third were Joe Miners and Tony Kellow of Porthpean golf club with 42 points.
