COMPETITIONS at Falmouth Golf Club on Sunday helped raise more than £1,000 for charity on Sunday.

A good turnout came out to the course in support of Pendennis Brass Band with 39 pairs playing in aid of the group which is rapidly growing in reputation.

On a day of great scoring, the men’s four ball better ball saw Chris Beer and Scott Pedlar win on countback from Gerry Storey and Tony Annear after both duos carded superb totals of 48 stableford points apiece. Third were Steve Forrest and Bill Ward with 44 points.

Best seniors with 45 points were Chris Richards and John Sanz. Best visitors were David Tippett and Richard Whatmore of Budock Vean G.C. with 46 points.

Carmel Connors and Angela Cortis won the Ladies section with 43 points. Kath Kelly and Liz Lloyd were runners up with 38 points and third were Kathy Wells and Mo Hammond with 36 points.

The junior section winners were Liam and Keiran Ashley with 44 points, while second place went to Archie Fox and James Dempsey with 36 points.

Following the presentation, the band’s president Lord Myners of Truro congratulated organiser in chief Arthur Allen, vice chairman of the band, and his wife Ann for doing such a terrific job in organising the day which raised £1,392, a figure which could rise still further.
