A GROUP of golfers from Budock Vean Golf Club, along with some of their friends, are pictured enjoying refreshments outside the impressive Gramacho Golf Club on the Portuguese Algarve having previously played a round of golf at the nearby Pinta.

They also pitted their skills against the brand new course at Silves.

The mini-tour, organised by Budock Vean golf manager Tony Ramsden, played six games in six days (twice on each course).

"We were all well impressed," said a spokesman. "The weather was perfect and all the courses were an absolute delight to play on."

Despite the champioship status of the courses, the scoring was very impressive with nearly everybody getting on to the winner's rostrum during the week. The player of the week was awarded to Richard Burton who kicked off with 43 points at Silves. Chris Ramsden also achieved 43 points on the final day at Gramacho.

Back at Budock Vean Golf Club the latest round of the Winter League was won by robber Johnson with 37 points, pipping Nick Bryant on countback. Third was David Gudzij with 36 points.

No back nine twos were claimed which means an estimated jackpot on Sunday of over £55.00.

Last week saw two "fun four balls." David and Stephen Penrose alongside Bob Hartnell and David Stevens won the "cross country scramble" event which allows certain players to do legally what they mostly do anyway! Spray it around a bit! The second was won by Roger Mildren and club captain Barry Williams.
