THE F2 stock car season from March to November has now ended and although Falmouth man Paul Carter started the season as a newcomer - classified as a White Top or Novice - he has, nevertheless, enjoyed a very successful year.

Paul, who is part of the two-man Navystox team with friend and colleague, Jon Kind, who like Paul is a petty officer in the Royal Navy based at Culdrose, ended in sixth position in the nationwide league for drivers making their debut into the sport.

Along the way Paul has also picked up no less than nine trophies for best in grade and also the prestigious All Saints Cornish driver of the year trophy for the most laps lead in race finals held on Cornish raceways.

Paul finished the season moving up to the next grade (yellow top) and said: "I am fortunate in that I have had marvellous support from my sponsors S J Andrews, X Press Body Shop Falmouth, Eezytrade.co.uk, Giant3D Web Design, Red Lion (Mawnan Smith) and John Harding's Motorworld who originally built the car.

"I would particularly like to thank them and my team mates and mechanics, Dave Carter (dad) and Craig Morgan, also my long suffering wife Sarah and mum Judith for all the food hampers we munch our way through at every race meeting."

At the start of the season, Claire, Ian and David from the Red Lion, knowing that Paul had a very healthy appetite suggested that for every trophy Paul won they would provide him with a meal as sponsorship. Because of this the Navystox team are the guests for an end of season celebration.

It put a whole new emphasis on the phrase Meals on Wheels, but one which Paul is going to enjoy.
