Last Saturday saw 99 members compete for the Bearne Bowl of which over a quarter suffered “meltdown” by not returning their scores.
Peter Lewis had no such problems however as he carded a superb net 62 (gross 78) including a birdie at the 9th and a brilliant “eagle” two at the par 4 thirteenth which proved crucial as he won by a solitary shot from Eric Brotherton.
He must have been preparing his speech only to card a double bogey 7 at the penultimate hole followed by a triple bogey 8 at the last to end his formidable challenge.
Third was Steve Mayle with a solid net 65. The best gross was returned by, yes you guessed it, Ben Browning with 75.
