A PROFESSIONAL first half display saw Wendron United win their third game of the season in the South West Peninsula League West on Saturday.

Goals from Tom Langford, Bryan Hawke and Justin Searle put Illogan RBL to the sword as they ran out 3-1 victors at Underlane.

A rare mistake from centre back Chris Madeley gifted Dan Richards a goal just before half time, but the visitors barely threatened their hosts over the 90 minutes despite looking lively at times.

Langford got proceedings off to a fantastic start when Mikey O'Neill's pass evaded the foot of Tom Hogarth, allowing the striker in on goal and he took the chance.

Hawke doubled the lead a minute after the quarter hour mark as RBL's offside trap failed to snare him, leaving the forward with space to run into and pick his spot past Leigh Isaacs.

Both sides exchanged chances for the rest of the half with home goalkeeper Ben Mitchell being forced to make a couple of good saves and Hawke was kicking himself after slicing a shot wide when he was through on goal again.

RBL pulled one back in the 39th minute when Madeley failed to clear the ball, giving it straight to Ashley Smeeth and allowing Richards to send a shot past a helpless Mitchell.

But the two goal advantage was restored four minutes later as the away side's offside trap did not work again and Searle gladly made them pay.

The second half was a scrappy affair with chances going astray at both ends of the pitch, allowing Dron to cruise to victory.
