A GROUP of Argentinian rugby fans including the father of a former Cornish Pirates star visited the Mennaye during a stay for the Rugby World Cup.
The supporters of Jockey Club De Rosario came to the ground in Penzance with Daniel Antonio Di Bernardo, father of Alberto, among the party.
Memories were shared by Di Bernardo with current player-coaches Alan Paver and Gavin Cattle about the memorable season his son played at the club, which saw the side lift the EDF Energy National Cup with a 19-16 victory over Exeter Chiefs at Twickenham.
He was also introduced to photographer Simon Bryant who took a photograph of his son slotting an all important conversion attempt at Leeds during their run to the final, which now appears in the book Pirates, Pirates.
Club historian and media officer Phil Westren also showed the group a programme from a match played in 1963 between the Pirates and Club Atletico De San Isidro, from Argentina.
