Two of the real characters of grassroots rugby in the Mining Division are staging a Charity Match at Camborne Rugby Club on Saturday.

Select XV’s comprising local players representing Andrew ‘Spindle’ Stevenson and ‘Mad George’ Simmons will be taking part to raise funds for Cornwall Hospice Care, St Julias and the Headland Unit, RCH Treliske.

A whole day of activities have been planned beginning with children’s entertainment from 1pm and including the City Of Truro Male Choir singing live before and at half time.

A range of food and refreshments will be on sale before, during and after the match.

Entry to the game is £3 with children free and all proceeds from the gate will go to the nominated charities.

A large crowd is expected with the match scheduled to kick off at 3pm.

The whole day is dedicated in loving memory of Spindle’s wife Jane Elizabeth Stevenson who recently lost her long and courageous battle with cancer.
