Following a deluge of rain Saturdays Finals Day had to be postponed after only a few holes at Falmouth Golf club and continued on Sunday in perfect conditions.
The “Scratch” final between Ben Browning and David Holland proved a real cliff hanger over 36 holes. Holland played superbly to take a 3 up lead after nine holes including two birdies, only for young Browning to fire back with three birdies of his own to quickly level matters. Holland however wrestled the lead back again for a half way lead of 1 up.
The high quality see-saw encounter reached the seventeenth hole all square before Browning`s late, late show which saw him win the last two holes and take the trophy by 2 up.
The other finals completed saw Ray A Clark win the John Shaw cup comfortably against Sid Platt by 6 & 4. Rob Eccleston beat Peter Brierley by two shots to win the Medal Match play Cup after clawing back an early deficit. The MacLeod Cup was won by Phil Jones on the first extra hole against Paul Jose.
