Talented youngsters from Cornwall had a chance to have coaching from top professionals Marcus Trescothick, Tom Abell and Pete Sanderson from Taunton School recently.

Taunton School cricket coaches, Pete Sanderson and Marcus Trescothick were joined by former pupil and current Somerset County Cricket Club captain Tom Abell, to deliver a batting masterclass to promising young club and county cricketers at the Cricket Academy in Truro.

Chris Hunkin, Performance Development Manager at Cornwall Cricket Board said: "Cornwall Cricket and some of our young players were extremely privileged to receive time, advice and expertise from Pete, Tom and Marcus.

"The knowledge and experience these guys can share is immense and we are very much looking forward to building a positive relationship with Taunton School in the near future."

In conjunction with the Cornwall Cricket Board, the event provided talented youngsters from the Cornwall community the opportunity to learn from the highly respected coaches.

Taunton School’s Director of Cricket, Pete Sanderson led the sessions whilst Marcus Trescothick and Tom Abell provided practical one-to-one support to boys and girls, hoping to go on and make a career in the game.

Following the practical coaching, a question and answer session gave youngsters and their county coaches the chance to ask a range of cricket related questions to Pete, Marcus and Tom.

A number of Cornwall’s brightest cricketing talents have benefitted from Taunton School’s close links with Somerset CCC and following the masterclass, it looks as though others will follow in the near future.
