Local student rides waves of success to qualify for European Championship

GB Adapted Surfing team member Louis Sutton won a silver medal and came in fourth

His results have earned him a place on the brand new European Adaptive Championships in September

Adapted surfing is a rising competition area that allows those with disabilities to compete in this much-loved sport.

Adaptive surfers from across England gathered recently on Fistral beach in Newquay to share their passion for surfing and to take part in the English Adapted Surfing Open.

Capitalising on the opportunity, local student and GB Adapted Surfing Team member Louis Sutton was quick to enter the competition.

Louis from Truro, who is currently studying Foundation Studies at Truro College, took part in two competitions on the day, coming second in the open competition and fourth in the standing competition, despite being one of the youngest competitors by quite a few years.

Louis’ fantastic results mean that he will be off to the new European Adaptive Championships in September.

“I really enjoyed the experience and can’t wait to do it all again next year,” said Louis.
