Helston 78 all out [1pt] lost to Werrington 2 78-1 [20pts] by nine wickets
Helston suffered their first County Division 1 defeat of the season on Saturday, losing by nine wickets at Werrington 2.
Despite the loss Helston are still 23 points clear of Beacon in second.
Helston won the toss and chose to bat, with Karl Leathley scoring eight runs before he was caught by Daniel Warring.
Chris Martin top-scored for Helston with just 20 runs before he was lbw off Duke who took 3-10.
Stephen Wiseman (8), Eben Koekemoer (6) and Ross Leathley (5) fell by the wayside before Steve Jenkin and Joshua Ninnis both departed for ducks with the score reading 51-7.
A poor innings ended with Steve Eddy (4), Bradley Bury (9) and Peter Boyd (10) all scoring ten or fewer before being bowled by Darren Webber, who took a superb 4-8 as Werrington bowled the leaders out for 77.
Werrington's response was short and sweet, with Ian Searle the only wicket to fall after he was bowled by Jenkin after scoring 11 runs.
Nicolas Adams and Ben Jenkin both scored 31 not out off 52 and 28 balls respectively as the hosts cruised over the winning line after just 18.1 overs.
