Helston 74-4 [6pts] v Launceston 235-9 [6pts] - Match abandoned

Helston extended their lead at the top of the County Division 1 table despite their match with Launceston being abandoned.

Launceston set Helston 236 to win from their innings, with Helston reaching 74 after 20.2 overs before the day's play was curtailed.

The match was one of just two to go ahead in the division following heavy rain in much of the county over the weekend.

Helston won the toss and chose to field, with Bradley Bury bowling openers Michael Bolt (13) and Gavin Wallis (22), who were caught by Stephen Wiseman and Guy Leathley respectively.

But the partnership of Dan Tilley and Sam Pengelly did much of the damage for the visitors, with Tilley recording 62 runs off 95 balls while Pengelly hit 42 off 55 balls.

Pengelly was caught by Bury off Leathley's delivery, with the bowler taking 3-49.

Leathley's other two wickets cam in quick succession with Kevin Worth (7) and Michael Diebner (1) both being caught by Steve Jenkin.

Jenkin claimed three wickets of his own, with Robert Mutch (16), Tilley and Caleb Forsyth (0) all succumbing before the end of the innings.

Karl Leathley hit 36 in reply for Helston before he was caught by Tilley off Mutch's delivery.

Mutch also claimed Jenkin (1) and Wiseman (6) in quick succession, with Guy Leathley scoring 18 not out before the match came to an early end.
