Falmouth Town 3, Ivybridge Town 1

MATT Buchan scored twice as Falmouth Town came from behind to defeat Ivybridge at Bickland Park in the SWPL Premier on Saturday.

Sam Stevens put the Ivies ahead on 23 minutes before Buchan levelled soon after.

Buchan turned the game on its head with his second strike before Jordan Annear made sure of the win with 13 minutes to go.

An even first 15 minutes culminated in Buchan finding the back of the net, only to be ruled offside.

It was Ivybridge who ended up taking the lead when Stevens turned in the box and smashed home from 12 yards.

Town nearly equalised a couple of minutes later as Joe Cooper - making his 200th appearance for the club - headed the ball to Luke Brabyn, who fired over from eight yards.

Town drew level on the half-hour mark when Tom Annear’s long throw fell to Buchan, who fired through a crowd of bodies and past Ivies keeper Martin Piper.

Town began to turn up the pressure as Jack Bowyer struck the woodwork before Tim Nixon came close with an overhead kick.

The hosts surged ahead on 64 minutes when Annear unselfishly squared to Buchan to tap in from close range.

Annear then scored the third to seal the win on 77 minutes after reaching Olly Walker’s cross at the far post and slotting past Piper.
