Truro 242-7 [20pts] beat Falmouth 188 all out [7pts] by 54 runs

Falmouth fell short in their Premier Division match with Truro as they slumped to a 54-run loss at Boscawen Park on Saturday.

Scott Harvey started Truro's innings in superb fashion, reaching 83 runs off 137 balls before being bowled by Jamie Stephens.

Stephens had also claimed Charlie Kent (7) and Conor Miles (0) prior to Harvey to record 3-43.

But Kelvin Snell came in and hit 68 runs from 66 balls to put Truro in the ascendancy, while Robert Harrison added 23 not out on their way to reaching 242.

Grant Stone began Falmouth's reply with 28 runs before being caught by Harvey, but Harry Roberts and Scott Kellow fell for tion during his side's 54-run defeat at Truro on Saturday. Picture by Colin Higgsnine runs apiece.

Stefan Churcher managed 38 runs to salvage hope before he was caught by Kent.

Stephens and Richard Kellow added 27 and 40 respectively, but it was not enough to rescue a win as they were dismissed for 188 in the 43rd over.

  • Helston suffered their second defeat of the County Division 1 season on Saturday, losing by just five runs at nearest rivals Beacon.

The win means Beacon cut Helston's lead to 12 points with three games to go.

Opener James Gool top-scored with 64 runs off 115 balls for the home side before being stumped by Guy Leathley.

Jordan Thomas added 56 to put Helston under pressure as they reached 196-9 from their 50 overs.

Graham Wiseman hit an excellent 82 from just 47 balls, including seven sixes, to give the visitors the edge.

Stephen Wiseman and Eben Koekemoer added 35 runs each, but Helston collapsed as four batsmen recorded ducks, with Kris Martin taking 5-25 as his side dismissed Helston just six runs short of victory.
