JORDAN Annear scored twice as Falmouth Town put Bodmin Town to the sword at Bickland Park on Wednesday night.

Annear bagged two in just over a minute before David Broglino added another to give the hosts a handsome three-goal lead at the break.

Matt Buchan scored the fourth seconds into the second half before Ryan Oxley scored a consolation for the visitors, but there was still time for former Bodmin man Tim Nixon to add a late fifth.

Bodmin began well and had a good chance to take the lead themselves when Callum McGhee volleyed Harry Evans' cross narrowly wide.

Evans had a good opportunity himself when he attempted to lob Ryan Barnes with a close-range header but the Falmouth keeper was able to hold on to it.

But the hosts took the lead on 12 minutes when Buchan kept Luke Brabyn's pass alive on the right and crossed to Annear who fired home at the near post.

Annear then grabbed another barely a minute later, with Buchan's effort being saved by the outstretched leg of Cory Harvey with Annear on hand to fire in the rebound.

Two became three on 33 minutes with Brabyn's cross from the right flank being flicked past Harvey by Broglino at the near post.

Any hope of Bodmin coming out all guns blazing in the second half was extinguished when Town went 4-0 up seconds after the re-start. Brabyn countered and delivered a low cross to Buchan, who took a couple of touches before driving into the bottom corner.

Town were rampant and their dominance showed when right-back David Blizzard came a crossbar's width away from making it five on 55 minutes with a lovely strike from the edge of the box.

Harry Clarke and Broglino also took aim from distance as Town looked intent on running up a cricket score.

Bodmin at least managed a consolation with ten minutes go to as substitute Oxley steered the ball past Barnes.

However the hosts went up the other end and won a penalty after Clarke was taken out by Harvey. Annear stepped up to claim his hat-trick but the Bodmin keeper saved the kick.

But Town did have a fifth in the 88th minute when everyone apart from Nixon seemed to stop, allowing the Falmouth winger to break through and slot past Harvey to round off a superb night for the hosts.
