Helston 167-9 [11pts] v Troon 111-3 [12pts] Match abandoned

Helston are one game away from the County Division 1 title despite having their game with Troon abandoned on Saturday.

Helston picked up 11 points for the abandonment to leave them needing the same haul from their final game of the season at Roche this Saturday.

A delayed start meant the match was reduced to 30 overs, with Helston batting first after winning the toss.

Openers Karl Leathley (15) and Graham Wiseman (36) made a combined 51 runs before both were caught by Grant Rowe.

Chris Martin added nine runs before Eben Koekemoer stepped in to score 39 from 44 balls.

Koekemoer departed after he was caught by Daniel Walker off Jamie Goldsworthy’s delivery, who also claimed Ross Leathley (20) who was caught by former Helston man Dan Jenkin.

Rowe claimed a third wicket when he ran out Ben Rule (23), with Steve Jenkin and Stephen Wiseman adding nine and six respectively before Helston reached the 30-over mark.

Dan Jenkin fell early in Troon’s reply, scoring just three runs before he was caught by Karl Leathley off Koekemoer’s delivery.

Lewis Goldsworthy managed 32 runs from 33 balls before Graham Wiseman caught him out, while Jamie Goldsworthy added 16 before being bowled by Bradley Bury.

Samuel Eva contributed 49 not out, with Gavin Tregenza on nine not out before play was halted.

Grampound Road made 180-7 from their reduced 30 overs, with Falmouth reaching 104-1 from 17 overs before play came to an end.
