The record books were rewritten in an extraordinary derby game between St Gluvias and Falmouth seconds at Kernick on Saturday, writes Michael Weeks.

Jon Udy and Sam O’Nyons, both former Falmouth players, put on the little matter of 266 for the Saints first wicket. It beat, by a mile, the previous club first wicket record of 163 by Chris Trudgeon and Neil Trestrail in the eighties.

O’Nyons was dismissed by Greg Stephens for 98, that included 16 fours off 77 balls. Udy went on to hit 140 with 4 sixes and 19 fours off 104 balls. Wary of the weather the declaration came at 294-1 off 31 overs.

Falmouth replied with a respectable 183 all out in the 37th over. Paddy Varker made 46 and Jacob Stephens 36. Determined not to be left out of the game for long Udy took five for 20 and Rowan Shelton three for 56. The defeat confirmed Falmouth’s relegation.

St Just seconds need seven points at home to St Gluvias on Saturday to relegate Mount Ambrose, who finish at Falmouth.

Stithians' season is coming to a watery end. Three of their last five games have been cancelled as the fog descended at Paul on Saturday morning.

Coupled with Hayle’s surprise defeat at St Just, Ludgvan are in pole position to take the title on the final day. Perranarworthal eased any relegation worries with a dramatic one run win over St Newlyn East at Tredrea.

Constantine can secure division four promotion on the final day at home to Redruth thirds. The County One survival of Redruth seconds on Saturday means three teams are due to go up. Veryan are now confirmed as champions.

Wendron (294 points) host St Ives, Constantine have 291 points and St Just thirds who host Stithians seconds are on 286 points. Constantine set up the scenario with a 44 run win at Leedstown.

Mawnan have finished seventh in division six following a six wicket home defeat to St Just fourths.
