Roche 99 all out [2pts] lost to Helston 102-0 [20pts]

Helston secured the County Division 1 title with a comprehensive ten-wicket win at Roche on Saturday.

The new champions did it in style as they bowled Roche out for just 99 runs, before taking just over 16 overs to beat the score and seal the title.

Roche lost openers Adam Trudgeon and Shaun Trudgeon for six runs apiece, with Steve Eddy bowling the latter for his first of four wickets for 25 runs.

Eddy claimed his second when Chris Martin caught Neil Trudgeon for seven runs, before Harry Threthewey (1) was lbw off Bradley Bury's delivery.

Jack Mingo top-scored for Roche with 24 until he was dismissed by Bury, with Jacob Inch (1) and Ian Trudgeon (0) following soon after as the hosts reached 43-6.

James Harvey (13) and Dale Williams (10) managed double-figure hauls but Roche failed to make triple figures before their innings ended after 32.4 overs.

Helston didn't need to look past opening batsmen Karl Leathley and Chris Martin in their reply.

Leathley scored 31 runs from 48 balls while Martin racked up 61 runs from 51 balls to secure the win and the title after 16.3 overs.

  • Falmouth ended their Premier Division campaign with an eight-wicket defeat at Werrington, a result which earned the hosts the league title.

The visitors made 146 runs before being dismissed after 35 overs, with Werrington needing 30.4 overs to beat the score and win the title.

Falmouth finish seventh.
